“Dance on the Streets” aka D.O.T.S. Fest.
The City of Reading Signature event for Hispanic Heritage Month. The Dance on the Streets (D.O.T.S. Fest) is hosted by RIZE and community partners.
RIZE is a youth arts organization that fosters the arts to teach conflict resolution and nonviolence awareness. The primary goal for this event is to to support the RIZE Programs and to eliminate the social adversity by uniting our cultures as one through performing arts as well as promoting Dance as a fitness tool to promote a healthy lifestyle. Our vision and goal is to give our community the avenue to express themselves artistically, and to provide positive reinforcement to the community at-large. An opportunity for tourism into the city and increase business revenue. Our mission is to unite our culturally diverse communities by providing a positive venue where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can come together to celebrate in dance and the arts.
The event itself kicks off with a Caribbean Carnival (Parade) in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, a dance off competition and the breaking of the City’s record attracting over 2k downtown Reading. We will also have opportunities for vendors to showcase their products or service during the event. Our goal is to provide opportunities for growth in the arts, for our children, our families and our communities. Your organization’s contribution goes towards youth programs to help them face the adversity, challenges and opportunities of our community and world today.
